The Gambia Bible School Project

Gambia

GAMBIAN LANDSCAPE Nestled on the west coast of Africa, The Gambia is the smallest country on the mainland of the continent. Stretching just 30 miles wide and 300 miles long, it is bordered by Senegal on three sides and the Atlantic Ocean on the west. RELIGIOUS CLIMATE The Gambia is predominantly a Muslim country, with approximately 95% of its population adhering to Islam. This dominant religious landscape shapes the cultural and social norms, influencing various aspects of life. While the country is known for its relative religious tolerance, Christians often face persecution including social ostracism & discrimination. Despite these challenges, the resilience and faith of the Church remain unwavering. AGWM RESPONSE The religious environment is complex, but the vision is clear—to see a healthy church established within walking distance of every Gambian. Africa’s Hope believes that the only way we will accomplish this goal is by raising up more Spirit-empowered biblically trained leaders to bring the hope of the Gospel to The Gambia. THE NEED FOR A BIBLE SCHOOL Currently, the Bible school is operating from a rented space on the outskirts of the city. While this location has seen a significant impact, its distance from the urban center limits accessibility for many potential students. The new building project will move the school to a strategic location, accessible to a greater number of students. The facilities will include classrooms, library, offices, chapel space, as well as a sanctuary for Al Masih Assembly of God which is the local church that finances the activities of the school and leads the way in church planting in The Gambia. YOUR PARTNERSHIP Your partnership with Africa’s Hope and with AGWM Africa in The Gambia has the opportunity to see the Church spread in this country in ways never before seen.
