A few years ago, Désiré (DAY-zee-ray) was working a high-paying government job. His family lived comfortably. Then God called him into ministry, and the call could not be ignored. Aware that he needed training, Desiré left his lucrative job and went to the Ngaoundéré Bible School. Today, he is teaching at that same Bible school, as well as pastoring and traveling as an evangelist. Ngaoundéré is in Northern Cameroon which is an active terrorist region. Christians are sometimes the targets of terrorist groups. Unafraid, Desiré continues to teach at the Bible school and boldly proclaims the gospel. Desiré is pouring his faith, experience, and wisdom into emerging leaders. These men and women will plant churches in the surrounding villages and towns, which are home to 15 unreached people groups.
The Ngaoundéré Bible School is using the Africa’s Hope Discovery Series to train these emerging leaders. This diploma-level curriculum is written for the African context and is being translated into the major African languages. In Cameroon, they are already using the Discovery Series in French. Bible schools across the continent are requesting the Discovery Series and other supplementary training materials. We have three ways of providing training materials: we can print and ship it to them; we can print it locally; we can deliver it electronically for use on a tablet or Kindle.
For Cameroon, we have determined that a print-on-demand (POD) system which can print materials locally will be the most effective way to provide printed resources for the Bible school.
A POD system is rugged, built to withstand a harsh environment and is ideal for inexpensively printing and binding books. It’s the perfect system for producing textbooks in small print runs which match class sizes. Because the books are printed only when needed, there is no need to warehouse them. We need your help to purchase, ship and install a POD system in Cameroon. Africa’s Hope has set aside some funds for this project, but an additional $18,000 is needed. Will you help us with a gift of $10, $25, $50, $100, $300, $500 or more?
Pictured are some of the students in Cameroon who are using the Discovery Series. They are all pastors in the region who attended the Ngaoundéré Bible School. The man in front, second from the right, is Pastor Desiré. In addition to printing companion training materials for the Discovery Series, the POD system will be used to print evangelism pieces and discipleship materials for new believers. It could be used to print tens of thousands of ministry resources every year. These resources will enrich believers and strengthen the evangelism efforts for reaching the unreached people groups in the north.
Please pray about what you can do to help us raise the remaining $18,000 needed to purchase and deliver the POD system to Cameroon. Gift amounts of all sizes are needed. If 18 churches or individuals give $1,000 each, we can provide the POD system for Cameroon. I thank you in advance for responding to this need. Our brethren in the national church are doing all they can to get this system, and we want to help them.
