As I write this I am listening to the Imams of several mosques chanting their prayers over their loud speakers. Ramadan started earlier this week, and Muslims are supposed to fast all day.

This morning I am in a room with 7 Bible school principles and academic deans in Dakar Senegal.

DeVane and Mary McGee, have served Africa's Hope with distinction for over six years.

Today begins a week vacation. My oldest son, Scott is on a two week leave from Afghanistan, and we are going to have some family time together.

Today, Joseph Aryee, the academic dean of the Bible school in Salt Pond, Ghana paid us a visit.

I lead the Africa's Hope team devotions today. Many were traveling; however, it was great to be surprised by Doug Hollis (college friend and missionary to Indonesia) who showed up unannounced.

This evening I had dinner with all those from the great “Northern California/Nevada District” who were in town for the missionary commissioning service tomorrow night.

Summer always brings Missionary Renewal time, and we have been meeting for the last two days with all the Africa missionaries who are in the US on furlough. We have a great team across Africa!

Family reunion time! First my aunts and uncles and their families on my mom’s side, then later in the week, all my mom’s cousins. It is always great to get together with family.

Today I met with the Area Directors from across Africa to give them a report of what Africa's Hope is doing and a vision of what we desire to do in the days ahead.
