Following his resurrection, Jesus stressed that Spirit-empowered disciples were His highest priority (Acts 1:8). This priority has never changed! For the church in Africa to take hold of its calling and fulfill the task of evangelism, church planting, and disciple making, thousands of newly trained leaders are needed. Equipping passionate, competent leaders for today as well as the future is critical.
The Bible teaches, “It is not good to have zeal without knowledge” (Prov. 19:2, NIV). Today, zealous African men and women are emerging to answer the call of God on their lives to preach the gospel, plant churches and reach the unreached. However, the potential benefits that could come from a minister’s abundant zeal are often left unrealized because of his or her lack of training.
Often, one pastor will be responsible for overseeing several local churches without any help from another trained leader. Many of the pastors have been appointed as spiritual overseers of newly planted churches solely because they became believers a few months before the other converts. The critical need for trained leaders is the reason that Africa’s Hope remains passionately committed to facilitating and resourcing quality theological training.
An important component of our training strategy is our periodic, continent-wide Africa’s Hope Bible School Leadership Conference. This conference in Johannesburg, South Africa will be held in February 2017, just a few weeks from now. At least 250 African Bible school leaders hope to travel there to participate.
This intense, week-long training conference will provide specialized instruction for key Bible school leaders. The attendees will learn new skills and receive educational tools that will help them lead and teach more effectively.
Many of the leaders will struggle to secure the funding needed to attend. We are asking for you to send a gift to help enable one or more leaders to attend. Your gift will help us invest in these men and women in a special way. They are gifted, bright and sacrificial; yet, they often feel overwhelmed by the task, and they need this time of encouragement and resourcing.
Presently, more than 300 Bible schools and training programs across the continent are training nearly 15,000 students each year. These schools and training programs are critical to advancing the cause of Christ across Africa. Your gift will provide a tremendous opportunity for these African leaders to be inspired, encouraged, challenged and equipped to fulfill their task in a greater way. What a wonderful investment!
For one leader to attend the conference costs $440, which includes lodging, three meals a day, and conference resources and tools. Please send whatever size gift you can to help one or more Africa Bible school leaders attend the February conference and receive personalized training and resources.
Thank you for supporting Africa’s Hope! Your gift today will help equip leaders to train thousands of ministers in 2017. We greatly appreciate your help.Give now
