After 20 years, The Gambia (88% Muslim) in West Africa is being re-opened to evangelism. But before the country’s 16 Muslim/animist unreached people groups can be evangelized, the national church needs our help to disciple and train workers.
The Gambia Assemblies of God has 350 believers in eight churches who want to grow in their relationship with Jesus and be able to share the gospel with the people of their country. Several of the believers, since their conversion, have developed a passion for ministry and have answered the call to become full-time pastors. But they need training to help them effectively plant churches and make disciples. We are mobilizing our efforts to come alongside this church to offer resources that will help the believers to grow in faith and evangelize their unreached neighbors throughout the country and will help equip those called to full-time ministry.
With a gift of $50, Africa’s Hope can help provide one of the following:
- Provide Living the Truth (seven-year discipleship curriculum)
- Provide the Discovery Series (diploma-level ministry training resources)
- Equip a new church-planting school opening in The Gambia with a container full of educational tools
Our goal is to provide these materials to the believers in The Gambia before the New Year! We need a total of $17,500 to provide these discipleship and training materials to benefit everyone in The Gambia Assemblies of God.
The re-opening of The Gambia for evangelism is an amazing opportunity. I hope you will be part of it! With a $50 Christmas or year-end offering, you can help provide the biblical tools needed to disciple Gambian believers. In addition, that $50 gift will help establish a strategic church-planting school that will produce future ministers of the gospel—church planters, preachers and teachers.
I liken The Gambia church to the Early Church in Antioch where the apostle Paul was commissioned. That small beginning became a mighty missions movement in Asia. Antioch offered an environment of training that shaped Paul and Barnabas and prepared them to be sent out with a vision to plant churches and make disciples. Just like in Antioch, we believe The Gambia church will be a mighty evangelistic force throughout their country—but first they have to be discipled.
Your gift will be used to bring the Living the Truth and Discovery Series materials into the country on a large shipping container. In addition, we will pack the container with other educational tools for the modest church-planting school being launched there. These resources will help:
- disciple 350 believers in the Word of God,
- train pastors who have not had adequate training,
- establish a modest church-planting school in the capital city, and
- answer almost 20 years of prayer for an entire national church.
For the first time in many years, a missionary family will live and work in The Gambia. We will partner with that family to disciple and train Gambian believers. Re-opening The Gambia to missions is an amazing opportunity.
Through partnership, we can equip a new generation of church planters and disciple an emerging faith community. It is our privilege to be among the first to help open The Gambia to wide evangelism after 20 years! Thank you for helping with this need.Give now
