Thousands of pastors and leaders are being equipped for ministry in our training centers across the continent of Africa. Our scholarship fund has many requests pending from students who desperately want to be trained but do not have the finances. A gift of $50 per month (or $600 per year) can scholarship the Bible school training needed to prepare more leaders like my friend Peter Njiri, who is the general superintendent of the Kenya Assemblies of God.
I saw Pastor Njiri at a meeting and heard him give a heartfelt speech expressing his gratitude for American missions involvement in Africa:
“I am a product of missionaries. It is because they came to us [in Africa] that we know Jesus. We thank and congratulate America for coming to us!”
The leadership training he received prepared him for his ministry and enabled him to be incredibly effective as a pastor and church planter. Now as Kenya AG general superintendent, he is impacting Kenya and all of East Africa. The Kenya Assemblies of God is a healthy and thriving church.
At the meeting Peter came to the front of the room, looked at each missionary, and humbly and emotionally expressed his gratitude for the missionaries, churches, pastors and lay people who over many decades have invested in reaching Africa.
In particular, he thanked Africa’s Hope for providing scholarship funds to the hundreds of men and women who were called to ministry and were able to attend our Bible schools because of the assistance they received.
Decades ago, Peter Njiri was a young Bible school student. The scholarship support sent to his Bible school made a difference for him. Today, as the leader of the Kenya Assemblies of God, Pastor Njiri knows how critical biblical training is.
The sacrifices of people like you and me have built a solid foundation for the work in Kenya today. In the Kenya Assemblies of God:
- all pastors are encouraged to get biblical training
- it is a requirement that one-fourth of the national church’s budget be dedicated to leadership/ministry training
- the Bible schools train pastors sent to them by many denominations
I’ve seen the reports with my own eyes! Millions of souls all over Africa have been born into the kingdom of God because of what has taken place in Kenya. We can directly attribute some of these successes to our provision of scholarships for African ministers who have been called of God to preach the gospel.
I cannot overstress the importance of the scholarship fund. This past year, we have answered many requests for scholarships from the field. Each time we have brought these requests to friends like you, you have made scholarships possible. But the countless needs have stretched the scholarship fund. We need to build up this fund immediately!
By responding today you will be answering a major need on the continent. At any moment, we could have more urgent scholarship requests come in. It is my hope today that when those requests are officially submitted, we will be prepared to help.
Please pray about this critical need. Every $50 we give provides a month of Bible school training for an African Bible school student; $600 will help that student for a full year.
May God bless you for responding to this critical need! I will leave you with some final words from Pastor Njiri regarding his training in Bible school:
“I’ve seen God at work in my ministry. Those foundations laid in the early years at Bible school formed me into the man I am today. Millions have been born into the Kingdom, and we must now continue training [other leaders].”Give now
